Our Calendar

01 Mar St David, bishop and Patron saint of Wales.  Several Irish saints were his pupils and he influenced monastic development in Ireland.
04 Mar St Casimir strove to promote peace and the unity of Western Europe.  Patron saint of Poland.
05 Mar St Kieran of Saigir was born in Cork.  He is numbered among the pre-Patrician saints of Ireland.  He returned from the continent to his father’s territory, Ossory where he lived as a hermit.  Disciples soon joined him and Saigir became a well-known monastery.

Parish of Ardkeen Building Fund

To begin our Building Fund, a draw for 2 tickets to Medjugorje including flights, accommodation and meals will be raffled at The Family Ceili on Sunday 2nd May. Departure dates will be between June and October 2010.  A second prize of £100 and third prize of £50 will be included in the draw – tickets £5.00 each.  Willie Mageean will be going around with the tickets very soon – please support this fundraiser.  (The value of the trip to Medjugorje is approx £750)

Youth 2000 Retreat – Ballymena

Youth 2000 will be hosting a youth retreat in St Patrick’s College, Ballymena 12th – 14th March for 16-35 year olds.  Newcomers are very welcome.  The programme includes dramas, music, workshops, inspiring talks, games etc.  Donation only.  Residential so please bring a sleeping bag!  For more information contact Carla 07514820572 or www.youth2000.ie.  Booking essential.

Coming soon:  Grow the Tallest Sunflower Competition

Over the next few weeks small packs of sunflower seeds will be on sale at the church doors costing £1 each. Green fingered parishioners are invited to buy a pack and plant the seeds to grow beautiful sunflowers over the summer. Judging will take place at the start of late summer with a range of prize categories. Further details will follow but in the meantime get your forks out and prepare your sunny patch.                                      The Parish Social Committee

  • Cash for Clobber:  If you have any old clothing/bedding etc, please deposit it into the Clothing Bank – St Mary’s will benefit financially and the money will be used to purchase outdoor play equipment, to be chosen by the children.
